BIOGRAPHY
Roger Blauvelt, MD, is an orthopedic specialist that deals largely with conditions of the hand and upper extremity. He has a passion for finding the best solution for each patient’s unique condition and the best course of treatment for that individual. While that can be surgery, it is most often other methods. Common conditions treated are carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, tendonitis, wrist injuries, hand arthritis, fractures, tendon/nerve injuries, and Dupuytren’s contracture.
He has a special interest in the care and recovery of injured workers and understands the workmen’s compensation system in Washington can be challenging. Treating injured workers requires medical knowledge, as well as knowledge of the systems and other issues in play. The goal is a safe and timely recovery and return to productive function.
Dr. Blauvelt received his medical degree at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN, before completing his 5-year orthopedic training at Texas Tech University. Dr. Blauvelt then participated in an additional year of subspecialty fellowship training in Surgery of the Hand and Upper Extremity at University of California Medical Center, Davis in Sacramento. Following a traveling international fellowship of 18 months duration he began practice in Western Washington in 1997.
Outside of work, he enjoys the outdoors, scuba diving, pottery, woodworking, home improvement, movies, traveling, and spending time with his family.
